QS-Boys Club

About

May I take this opportunity to introduce you to QS-Boys Club (reg. No. 2019/526381/08), which is a non-profit making organization that provides mentorship to boys aged 10 to 17 – boys overcoming stressors in their lives, such as poverty, abusive situations, and unstable homes. Our philanthropy programs are designed to build a conscious process of cultivating, training and networking that will grow a boy-child into a gentleman who shoulders responsibility, values hard-work, manages his emotional impulse and refrains from making dominant displays.

QS-Boys Club was inspired by the ever growing number of boys who are prone and exposed to crime and toxic masculinity. We believe that common notion of what it means to be a man in our societies is the driving factor behind much of the chancy behaviours males engage in. Hence we need funding for the following:

1) To Promote Personal Hygiene - Healthy Lifestyle is an everyday part of the club lifestyle. Giving our members cosmetic-packs once a month helps them to keep clean hence avoiding diseases associated with unhygienic.

2) To Host Crime Prevention Programs: We provide members with Prevention Programs once in two weeks. The agenda is to bring about benefits to young boys as they are particularly vulnerable to drug use, crime and victimization, including gang-related crime, violent extremism and sexual exploitation. We do this because we believe in investing in the healthy development of boys and addressing the conditions that rise to antisocial behaviour and crime before they appear. Since we do not have Club House as yet, nor does our community have a park or community hall, we need funding for venues, transport and food.

3) Care4ThePoor: Five of our members are from families that live in extreme poverty where hunger is a daily battle – the reason why we included this initiative in or programs. The aim is to distribute food parcels to these underprivileged families once a month.

4) HIV Programs for Girls: The main purpose of HIV programs is to inspire abstinence, as well as to increase awareness of safety practices to prevent HIV infection results in people being more careful and ultimately decrease infection rates. These programs help girls become aware of the levels of care and treatment, whether they are living with HIV or caring for someone with this disease. Since we do not have Club House as yet, nor does our community has a park or community hall, we need funding for venues, transport and food.

5) Dance Classes: We need funding for gumboots classes. Not only gumboots dance keep these young boys less involved with bad influences it also builds lasting character in them that they can carry into adulthood. The goal is to produce in them the ability to step away from peer pressure situations. Prevention work to change attitudes or question gender roles and stereotypes that make gender-based violence acceptable in society. At this age, some kids do not have the right from wrong.

6) Sci-Bono Centre: We have an invitation from Sci-Bono Centre in Johannesburg, Parktown on the 10th of July. This reputable centre will be hosting Science and mathematical programs for the 16 boys we have so far as members. For conformation, please consult Mr Nameka at [email protected]
