Jubilee Centre Of Excellence

About

Jubilee Centre of Excellence is a Non-Profit organization committed to educating and assisting families with Autistic children. Autism affects children of every race, ethnic group and socioeconomic status. Our children are frequently confronted with late diagnosis or misdiagnosis. Autism Support is important to the development of children. Our goal is to help the families to identify the red flags of autism early.

Our people lack resources and the available facilities are too expensive for these families. Children are hidden from society because of the stigma attached, especially our black communities. We are faced with requests from mothers who cannot even afford to get transport to have their children diagnosed. We hope our centre will be in a position to afford these parents assistance and work together with social workers.

Our dream is to create a place where support is available, and parents are able to share their challenges. A place where we could all just be ourselves without having to explain why we are the way we are. This brings us to forming a Network (Network for Autism), here parents are able to register and be part of forming a mapping which will ease the stress of “what happens now”. Many parents are not sure where and what to do when faced with challenges. That is why we have so many children being hidden away from society because of the stigma and discrimination they face. What can we do to improve the lives of our “ANGELS”.

We want to build a place where children can learn with their autistic peers, be nurtured for who they are. Have an integrated school where autism professionals and teachers work together. Most parents spend lots of time running from one therapy or activity to another, I would love to have all these services and enrichments OT, speech, physiotherapists, academics under one roof.

The purpose of the centre is to:

  • Build the capacity and skills of individuals, families, communities and professionals to help individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder realize opportunities for successful community inclusion.
  • Raise awareness and understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorders and promote the rights of all individuals to be treated with dignity and respect.
  • To promote acceptance of people with all disabilities as each of us have amazing gifts, talents, and skills to share.
  • To empower individuals with autism to identify their strengths, gifts and talents and to celebrate their successes.

The funding will assist with:

1. Rent a premise that will hold the centre.

2. Buy all necessities that will help us run the school.

3. Hire all necessary staff members as listed below.

4. Buy all training equipment for therapies such as occupational therapies, physiotherapies, and speech therapies that will be used at the centre.

5. Subscribe to some therapeutical programs to benefit our children.

6. Buy gymnastics equipment to help improve the muscles of the children with autism and hire.

7. Building a swimming pool that be used for swimming lessons in order to improve muscles and help regulate all sensory issues that children with autism have.

We will be working in Pretoria in Gauteng. We have considered opening the centre in Arcadia because it is in the centre and schools around those areas are very expensive. We can also get more children from different suburbs and townships to attend school. The aim of the centre will be to establish a school with proper facilities but yet with a very small fee that will be charged for our learners.

The amount of money that will raise will help us to hire the following people:

  • 10 Teachers/Assistant
  • Cook (plus 1 assistant)
  • Principal
  • Security
  • Cleaner
  • Driver
  • Project Manager

We need your help and support to make this project a success.
