Christmas Is A Time For Giving, But We Need Help!

Hi my name is Liz and I need your help! Providing a means to make ends meet is one thing, but helping to create joy in others’ lives is “going the extra mile” especially in these difficult times! This is a double-edged sword because we need your help to help us with our little shop, which will then help us create a little bit of Christmas for our local children!

Our story started a few years ago when we had to move out of our tiny apartment to make space for a new development! The apartment was ideal because it was affordable…. now we had to find alternative accommodation urgently! We hunted for days, but it was not leading to anything we could afford! By the grace of God and after driving for many miles we found the end of the rainbow in Ifafa!  We were offered an opportunity to not only move into a small cottage which we could just afford, but given the chance to run a small ‘corner café’ on the property! We grabbed it with both hands and our journey began!

With no experience in running a cafe, we had to learn fast! Although it was extremely tough, we were grateful for this amazing opportunity and after about 6 months and much tenacity, we soon became a valued member of the little town we live in. Customers became friends and we became a place to come to for the lonely, sharing our troubles, dreams and aspirations in support of each other.

But it has not by any means been an easy journey. Let’s just say even without the stock we needed in the cafe, our customers and friends still came around. And this tradition has continued allowing these friendships to grow! We feel that we are always there for our customers, whether it be for milk, bread or just a chat!   

In order to stock the shop at times we have focused on the basics but behind the scenes we were collecting “waste” and making beautiful creations to sell!  We wanted to have something to offer…. something pretty, something needed, gifting opportunities and something to take home!  Somehow, we have come through. Isn’t it amazing the creativity that can come out of people when they really need it? We have become very innovative and flexible to ensure our journey continues!

We now find ourselves in a situation where we need stock for Christmas to serve the holiday-makers and we are at a loss and really feel we may let everyone down because of our circumstances, but not only that…. we want to be able to create a little bit of Christmas cheer for the local children, to put a little joy and Christmas spirit into their lives! To create a bit of fun, we made reindeers out of washed-up wood from the beach to create a Christmas theme outside the cafe!  

We want to change the world, and we know we can do it a little bit at a time! Raising funds with your support will help us on our journey and enable us to get through December 2020!  PLUS have a Christmas party for the local children! We need all the help we can get so we can all celebrate a happy Christmas celebrating coming through 2020 giving us all hope for a brighter future in 2021!
