Time to embrace winter with revival of the quintessential craft beer, wine and gourmet food festival in Cape Town, Hop n Vine 2015. After a little break, The River Club, situated along the Liesbeek River, overlooking a stunning Golf Course, has now been selected to host this prestigious event. A boutique craft beer, wine and gourmet food festival to appease the thirst of the Cape’s ever-growing contingent of artisan connoisseurs. The festival will be maintaining an intimate air, with the emphasis on craft beer and wine food pairing appreciation.The show celebrates the devoted South African artisan beer and wine making culture. It is the showcase of the emerging Micro Brewing Industry in RSA and the strong wine culture of the Cape region.
It will be a safe and educational environment for all to celebrate the art of making and drinking beer and wine expertly paired with gourmet food at a show where the general public can freely interact and share traditional brewing methods, complimenting food, products and entertainment.
The finest brewers from around the Cape as well as top Garagistes / Wineries – will unite with Cape chefs, cooking cuisine designed to perfectly pair with the wide range of beers and wines on show. Engage with the experts to learn more about the amber nectar as well as the grape of the vine. Grain vs Grape, who will it be.

In addition to all the amazing brewers, foodies and wineries featuring in the show, we also have an exciting addition to this year’s Hop ‘n Vine Festival.
We will be hosting the Finals of the Annual Shoprite and Checkers Championship Boerewors Challenge at the show.
This national competition helps the supermarket group to find a traditional Boerewors recipe that will appeal to the majority of consumers in the country, and enables Checkers and Shoprite stores to produce a quality product that reflects the value on offer in their meat market departments.
This takes place on Saturday, 1 August 2015 where the top three recipes will be chosen by a panel of expert judges.
Anyone with an exceptional traditional boerewors recipe could have entered – through the years the title of Boerewors Champion has been conquered by South Africans from all walks of life, from housewives to butchery managers, and even by a (then) 13-year old primary school learner!
Over and above this amazing addition we are also privileged to be hosting Grape vs Grain. Join wine goddess Cathy Marston and beer guru Lucy Corne for a beer vs wine food-pairing face off. Take three canapés, match them with three craft beers and three divine wines from Groot Constantia. Cathy and Lucy will argue their case but at the end of each pairing it's up to the audience, to decide whose pairings reign supreme. It's a battle of grape and grain, of old and new, of beer and wine – and there can only be one winner. Entrance to Grape vs Grain is free, but we recommend arriving early to avoid disappointment!
