BNAP Foundation
About
The BNAP Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to fostering the growth and sustainability of emerging artists in Southern Africa's dynamic art landscape. The foundation was established following the success of The Blessing Ngobeni Art Prize, which was initiated by artists Blessing Ngobeni, with Teresa Firmino Kutala and Olwethu de Vos. This initiative was a direct response to the positive impact a residency award had on Blessing Ngobeni's own career. Together, the founders aimed to create a positive impact in the industry and help other artists overcome challenges they themselves faced. Olwethu de Vos serves as the Art Director and is a founder, while Teresa Firmino Kutala is the Financial Director and a founder. Blessing Ngobeni is the Chairman and founder.
The foundation's mission is to provide pathways and opportunities for young, emerging artists to launch successful careers in the arts. They achieve this through various support structures, including residencies, workshops, exhibitions, and by creating vital connections within the art world. Their vision is to cultivate a thriving and inclusive art ecosystem in South Africa, where artists can flourish, and to be part of shaping the next generation of artists recognized both locally and internationally.
