About
Association of South African Black Actuarial Professionals (ASABA)
The Association of South African Black Actuarial Professionals (ASABA) is a non-profit organisation established in March 2005 to address the shortage of actuarial and quantitative skills among previously disadvantaged communities in South Africa.
ASABA drives transformation of the actuarial profession through structured skills development: a holistic mentorship programme for university students, a vacation work placement scheme with participating employers, and schools outreach that builds awareness of the profession in Black communities. Through the Actuarial Women's Committee (AWC), ASABA also champions the development and advancement of women in the profession.
ASABA's vision is a South African actuarial profession that reflects the demographics of the country. Its events — including the annual ASABA Conference, Excellence Awards and AWC Dinner — bring together students, actuarial professionals, employers and sponsors committed to building an accessible, inclusive profession.
