Release Heal Renew
About
Experiences of prolonged stress, tension, and trauma are not only held within our thoughts and emotions; they are also reflected within the nervous system through patterns of tension, hypervigilance, overwhelm, shutdown, and other protective survival responses. Whilst understanding trauma often begins with insight, awareness, and conversation, meaningful and lasting healing frequently involves the body as well.
Trauma Release Retreats have been thoughtfully designed with this understanding at their heart. These retreats offer an introduction to trauma-informed, body-based approaches that support the body's innate capacity to regulate, restore, and release accumulated stress and unresolved trauma. Through practices such as Trauma Release Exercises (TRE®), breathwork, gentle somatic movement, guided reflection, and trauma-informed coaching, participants are invited to explore a holistic pathway to healing that honours both mind and body.
The intention of each retreat is to create the conditions for the nervous system to experience greater safety, regulation, and resilience. As this sense of safety develops, there is the opportunity for a gradual shift away from states of fight, flight, freeze, or overwhelm, towards greater calm, presence, balance, and ease.
Facilitated by Metka Zurman-Volkwyn, Trauma Release Retreats are held in beautiful, carefully selected settings that offer a peaceful and nurturing environment for rest, reflection, and renewal. The retreats are exclusively for women, creating a supportive space where participants can feel comfortable, secure, and at ease amongst a community of like-minded women.
Trauma Release Retreats provide a professionally held and compassionate experience that is both restorative and empowering. In addition to the opportunity for deep release and rest, participants are introduced to practical body-based self-regulation tools that can be integrated into everyday life, supporting a greater sense of calm, wellbeing, and connection long after the retreat has come to an end.
