Refugee Social Services

About

Refugee Social Services (RSS) is a Durban-based non-profit organisation with over 16 years of experience supporting refugees, asylum seekers, and migrants in KwaZulu-Natal. Founded in 2008 and rooted in decades of grassroots community work, RSS operates from the belief that every person, regardless of nationality or documentation status, deserves to be seen, protected, and given the opportunity to thrive.

We provide holistic, integrated support that addresses the real barriers facing displaced people: mental health and psychosocial care, child protection, access to education, gender-based violence prevention and response, livelihoods development, and documentation assistance. We prioritise those most often left behind including unaccompanied children, survivors of trauma and abuse, people living with disabilities, the elderly, and single-parent households.
