CHOC KwaZulu-Natal (KZN) region forms part of a national network of regional offices dedicated to supporting children and teenagers diagnosed with cancer and life-threatening blood disorders, as well as their families. CHOC delivers holistic, patient- and family-centred support services to save lives through early detection and to make the cancer journey less burdensome. CHOC provides a wide range of integrated services designed to support both patients and their families throughout the treatment journey:

  • Psychosocial Support: Professional counselling, emotional care, and support groups for children and caregivers
  • Accommodation: CHOC Houses offering a safe, supportive “home away from home” near treatment centres
  • Transport Assistance: Ensuring that no child misses treatment due to financial or logistical barriers
  • Nutritional Support: Food parcels and meal support to assist families under financial strain
  • Carebags & Ward Support: Essential items and comfort initiatives for children in hospital wards
  • Awareness & Education: Community outreach programmes promoting early detection of childhood cancer

These services play a critical role in improving treatment adherence, emotional resilience, and overall quality of care.
