Lojaliteit, verlies en verlossing in die splinternuwe musiekblyspel RUTH


RUTH – die musiekblyspel is ’n nuwe Engelse teaterproduksie wat gehore gaan raak met ’n tydlose boodskap van geloof, hoop en liefde. Die stuk spruit uit die kreatiewe span van Polyda van Niekerk, Jean Minique White en Ferdinand W. Gernandt en bring die Bybelse verhaal van Rut op ’n vars, hedendaagse manier na die verhoog.


Met oorspronklike musiek en lirieke deur Polyda van Niekerk verbind die produksie twee wêrelde – Bybels en modern – om temas van lojaliteit, verlies en verlossing lewendig te maak. Die verhaal van Rut en Naomi loop parallel met dié van Chloe, ’n jong student wat ná verlies weer haar voete moet vind.


Die klankwêreld wissel tussen groot ensemble-nommers, innige ballades en lewendige vierings. Wilhelm Disbergen se stelontwerp en geïntegreerde LED-beeldmateriaal skep ’n sterk visuele raamwerk wat sowel geloofsgemeenskappe as breër teatergehore sal aanspreek.

  • Lojaliteit en geloof in moeilike tye.
  • Die mens se soeke na hoop en tweede kanse.
  • Die krag van vroue se stemme en hulle rol in God se groter verhaal.
