The Black Mermaid Foundation

The Black Mermaid Foundation is an ocean conservation and education organisation dedicated to expanding access, representation, and belonging in ocean spaces. Through immersive ocean experiences, youth education, and storytelling, the Foundation introduces children and young people - particularly those from historically excluded and inland communities to the sea, building confidence, ocean literacy, and a sense of guardianship. By combining direct access to the ocean with education and narrative change, the Black Mermaid Foundation works to cultivate a new generation of ocean stewards while reshaping who gets to feel connected to, and responsible for, the ocean.
