From 2019 to 2022, Freaky Friday rose to become one of the biggest and most talked-about student parties in the Free State, Bloemfontein. Hosting thousands of students year after year, it dominated timelines, sold out venues, and became a rite of passage for students who wanted more than just a night out — they wanted an experience.

Then… silence.

Not because the energy was gone, but because timing, growth, and purpose mattered. After years of being quiet, the organisers are stepping back into the space — not to chase hype, but to rebuild something meaningful.

In 2026, Freaky Friday enters a new chapter.

The return happens in Johannesburg, the City of Gold — a city known for ambition, culture, and movement. But this is not a random location drop. Freaky Friday is coming home, to Soweto, the southern townships where the organisers grew, where culture is lived daily, and where student voices deserve a platform of their own.

WHY SOWETO MATTERS

Freshers events have long been centred in central Joburg, often excluding students from the South. Freaky Friday : Freshers Edition intentionally shifts the spotlight — creating a space that accommodates all Soweto campuses and colleges, bringing students together in one unified, high-energy environment.
