AFDA Grad Festival 2025 – Ster-Kinekor Rosebank

On Saturday, 22 November, AFDA Johannesburg takes over Ster-Kinekor Rosebank for a full day of graduation screenings – a celebration of new voices, bold stories and fresh South African talent on the big screen.

Across Cinema 1 and Cinema 3 you’ll experience brand-new AFDA grad films created by final-year students as their calling card to the industry.

This is your chance to see tomorrow’s directors, writers, producers, editors, cinematographers and performers before they break out into the wider world.

What to expect

• A full festival day at Ster-Kinekor Rosebank, dedicated to AFDA’s 2025 graduation films.
• Short films, animations and documentaries screening throughout the day.
• Stories rooted in contemporary South Africa – from intimate character pieces to high-concept genre work.
• Q&A moments and informal meet-and-greets in the foyer, where you can chat to the filmmakers, cast and crew.

How tickets work

• Tickets are sold per screening / per film, so you can build your own festival schedule.
• Each ticket clearly indicates Cinema (1 or 3) and screening time – please double-check when booking.
• Age restrictions vary (for example PG13, 16LV, 16V, etc.). Please check the classification on each ticket before booking for younger viewers.
• No underage children will be permitted entry if the film’s age rating restricts it.
• There will be no child minder and AFDA does not take responsibility for looking after children.
• NOTE: THERE WILL BE NO TICKETS SOLD AT THE DOOR

• NO LATE ENTRIES WILL BE ALLOWED (this applies to everyone, including family and team members, since this is an exam)
