Summerhill House
About
At Summerhill House, we provide full-time care for vulnerable children who have been permanently placed with us by the Department of Social Development. Children join us at various ages — from as young as infancy to early adolescence. At present, our youngest child is 4 and our oldest is 14. Each child lives in a loving, family-style home, with six children per house and a dedicated housemother. They attend school in Ballito and grow up in a secure, nurturing environment they can truly call home.
In addition to our residential care, we support 150–180 children from the surrounding community through outreach programs. These include homework support and reading development (as many children only begin learning English in Grade 3), as well as daily meals, sports, and safe spaces during school holidays — ensuring no child goes hungry or uncared for when school support pauses.
