About

Third House is a community and open-mic poetry event in Cape Town, South Africa, where writers can come together in celebration of poetic talent. We facilitate a space in which poets can feel supported and inspired, share their work, exercise their creative voice, and network with other writers and creatives.


The space welcomes both established and novice poets and places them on equal footing, resulting in a sense of solidarity and mutual respect among members that encourages the cultivation of personal talent and the promotion of talent in others.


Performance poetry has the wonderful ability to reinforce our humanity. Third House is a warm and inclusive environment that not only demonstrates this fact but also showcases the remarkable and diverse talent present in our nation.
