About
Dawn Meyer has been teaching dance and Drama for 52 years (1969-2021). She is a teacher and examiner for AIDT: Modern, Tap, Hip Hop and FASA Acrobatic teacher and past examiner. She is a registered RAD teacher and also teacher of Drama and Musical Theatre. She has choreographed for many corporate events, television and stage as well as acting and dancing professionally.
She is the convener of the Northern Dance Platform Festival and Adjudicator of festival since 1984. Dawn has lectured, examined and given workshops locally and internationally, recently returning from representing South Africa at the European Dance World Championships.
THE STUDIO
Classes are professionally conducted in a friendly, colourful environment. The emphasis is based on enjoyment and love of dance, developing the dancer technically, mentally and socially.
Training is of a high standard, maintaining a record of achievement. Examinations are of prior importance, although not compulsory, as the individual gains strength, confidence and self esteem. Open classes and workshops encourage a broader knowledge of the genre.
Affiliated to the South African Association of Performing Arts (SAAPA) enables the dancer to compete in various competitions, gaining points for district and national colours, with the possibility of overseas competition.
Classes range from beginner to majors, as well as teachers certificates. Pupils enrolled from age 3 to adult. (Adults not training for exams are required to have had previous training or by arrangement.)
