About

I have been working with wood since young, and have been carving it (at first with chisels, and more recently with knives) for the last 6 years. It is my passion to share and grow this ancient art form and to give people a little bit of a "deeper" insight into trees, through their wood and the grain that tells a tale of the tree's life.

South Africa has populations of some of the most wonderful woods in the world, from our legendary indigenous timbers, which are often a treat to carve, to the exotic (frequently invasive) species that offer us a wonderful opportunity to learn with. I aim to host a variety of species' woods to carve from so that attendees can experience soft to hard woods. Wood species available are subject to yearly weather patterns, as much is storm-fallen timber.
