BJV Letaba Precision Shoot 2023 Rules and Information:
A. ORDER ARRANGEMENTS:
1. Right of access reserved.
2. There will be shooting range officers in charge of the different shooting points.
3. No shot may be fired without their presence or permission.
4. All orders from range officials must be obeyed.
5. Shooting Range is open on Friday, September 29th from 13h00 to 16h30 for Range Officials and helpers to shoot 200m Precision.
6. Saturday, September 30th the first shots are fired at 08h00 and the last targets are sold at 15h00. The last relay will be at 15h30 at the discretion of the organizers.
7. Only firearms with legal firearms licenses may be used for the competition.
8. The decision of the Chief Measuring Officer and Chief Shooting Range Officer will be final in respect of any rules and competition matters.
9. The decision of BJV Letaba Branch's management will be final in respect of the awarding of any prizes. No discourse or correspondence about this will be permitted.
10. Any violation of rules MUST lead to the disqualification of the offending shooter. Such disqualified shooter forfeits ALL his/her scores and fees.
11. Each person may shoot as many times as he/she wishes within the allowed entry time.
12. Each shooter MUST leave the shooting range AND evacuate after competing and take up a position at the back of the line for his next chance. If the shooting point is not full,
he/she may shoot in the next relay.
13. Only shooters may be on the shooting range. Assistance may be provided in extremely justifiable circumstances by a second person with the prior permission of the Chief
Range Officer (before entering the firing point), but the assistance person may not be in physical or verbal contact with the shooter at the time of firing the weapon. Bystanders
are therefore basically there to look after the safety of the shooter's weapon handling, for example with children participating.
14. Shooters will enter the firing point by using the middle stairs and evacuate it by using the side stairs.
B. SAFETY RULES:
1. Ear and eye protection compulsory.
2. No ammunition may be in firearms or magazines at any time of the day, unless a range official instructs you to load your firearm.
3. All bolts of rifles, slides of pistols, cylinders of revolvers and barrels of shotguns must be open at all times unless they are placed (without ammunition) in a bag or case.
4. No sidearms are allowed to be carried on the body during the duration of this event. (Excluding SAPS and Security Companies)
5. At the firing point, all firearms must be left inside the firearm bag until the order comes to remove the firearm, with bolt, slide, cylinder and/or barrel open, from the bag or case.
6. NO firearm may be handled behind the shooting point and must only be carried in a firearm bag or case.
7. Shooters will stand behind the shooting table until the officer instructs you to take a seat and load your firearm.
8. Only shooters are allowed on the shooting range - all spectators must be behind the barrier tape.
9. No alcohol is allowed on the shooting range. Any person who violates this rule or is visibly under the influence of alcohol or any narcotic, WILL be disqualified and ordered to
leave the shooting range IMMEDIATELY.
C. COMPETITION RULES
1. A warm-up shot into the stop wall is allowed (optional)
2. Only three minutes will be allowed to fire the three shots after the Range Officer has given the order that the relay can begin.
3. Only four rounds of ammunition per shooter are allowed and must be visibly displayed on the shooting table next to the rifle, except with shotguns where 5 rounds are allowed.
4. If it is not determined by the measurers and chief range official, without any doubt, that there are three (3) shots through the target, the target will be ignored for the
competition.
5. If there are obviously holes of a different caliber in a shooter's target, the target will be taken into account, if the shooter reports this to the range officer, before the shooting
point is vacated for that relay, provided that the stray shots can be identified on the targets, among the other shooters of that relay.
6. If a shooter shoots on the wrong target, he/she will be disqualified for the relevant relay in which the incident took place.
7. Any center fire rifle is allowed. No limit on barrel length, barrel thickness or on telescope magnification. The rifle must be an obvious hunting gun. Adjustable buts are allowed
8. Silencers are permissible but NO muzzle breakers that connects directly to the barrel, will be allowed. A muzzle break that is in front of the silencer is allowed.
9. Only the bags provided on the tables may be used - no own tripods or other types of support or aids are allowed. The rifle stock may not touch the table.
10. For the 200m Telescope section, the average of each shooter's best two targets will determine the score.
11. For the 100m Open sight section: Any center fire rifle without a telescope may be used.
12. Own ammunition (purchased or re-loaded) may be used.
13. Shooters who are on duty on the shooting day and are listed as such on the Chief Organizer’s duty list, are entitled to take part in the competition and will be given the
opportunity to take part in the 200m discipline on Friday September 29th from 13:00. These serving shooters will also be given priority on Saturday September 30th at other
disciplines, so that they can also participate, but can be helped soon enough to be able to serve at their service points.
14. If the First place is a tie, the shooters second best target will be looked at for a decision. If still tied, the third best target will be looked at.
15. Targets must have the following information on them:
Initials and Surname as well as First Name
ID number
Caliber
Shoot number
Category
Target and firing point number
Telephone number
16. No target will be measured twice.
17. There will be only one (Open) competition, juniors and ladies will not compete in separate competitions.
18. The best ladies and juniors (17 years and under on the day) will be eligible for the open class prizes PLUS an additional prize.
19. Lucky draw prizes will also be given out during the prize-giving but shooters must be present during the prize-giving to qualify for them.
20. Additional prizes may be awarded by the association at its discretion.
21. By entering this competition, each participant submits himself/herself to the rules set out above.
22. The best of two targets per shooter will be considered for the competition although the number of targets per shooter is not limited. Therefor every shooter can try to improve
his best, by shooting as many targets as he/she wants. Each shooter will therefore be eligible for only one prize per division, unless as stated in No. 18.
23. The overall winner receives an exchange trophy as well as the Main Prize. Prizes will be awarded as the Association sees fit.

3. Rifle stock may not touch the table.
4. Score will be determined by adding the smallest grouping of scores of 2 targets of a shooter's score together and dividing scores by 2 to determine the average smallest score of
a shooter.
100M OPEN SIGHT Open Class
1. 3 Shots on target of which all 3 shots must be on the paper target. Should one shot break the outer edge of the paper target, the target will not be measured.
2. Supported shooting over shooting table (top surface only) with only the 5 bags provided may be used as assistance.
3. Rifle stock may not touch the table.
4. Winner will be determined by smallest grouping of a shooter.
75m RIMFIRE (.22) Open Class and Juniors
1. 3 Shots on target of which all 3 shots must be on the paper target. Should one shot break the outer edge of the paper target, the target will not be measured.
2. Supported shooting over shooting table (top surface only) with only the 5 bags provided may be used as assistance.
3. Rifle stock may not touch the table.

40m RIMFIRE (.22) Youngsters 12yrs and under on the day

15m HANDGUN SENTRE FIRE Open Class and Juniors

SHOTGUN Open Class
