STUDIO 401 *(PTY) Ltd. "HINDENBURG!" THE HUMANITY EXHIBIT

About

STUDIO 401 (PTY) Ltd. proudly presents the LZ 129 "HINDENBURG", created by Gino Hart - designer of the famous "TINTANIC" - the largest TITANIC model in Africa - made of "tin".

The "HINDENBURG" is a giant 4.2 meter *(13.12ft) replica of the famous Zeppelin type airship which unexpectedly exploded on camera in front of a live audience at her landing base in Lakehurst New Jersey on 6 May 1937.   The giant internal framework of the "HINDENBURG" model was meticulously researched and created by artist David Kessel from KRAFT and then completed externally by local South African artist Gino Hart.

KRAFT spent 3 months cutting all the various required parts for the 1:61 scale "HINDENBURG!" replica, then spent 3 months assembling the giant dirigible.  Gino Hart then added an additional 9 months to the construction for the elaborate decoration process.

?The "HINDENBURG!" exhibition features a vintage gramophone which plays 1936 - 1937 music hits to set the mood and showcases a variety of World War II artifacts and replicas. The 4.2 meter *(13 ft) "HINDENBURG!" is held in place overhead by 6mm thick cables which allow visitors the opportunity to see the queen of the skies in mid-air.

*The "HINDENBURG!" exhibit is accompanied by physically printed context on the ground displays which tells the story of the famous airship and her unfortunate involvement with the Nazi regime. The information screens are also accompanied by digital screens which allow visitors the opportunity to scan QR CODES and easily open the content on their own smartphones and read up on the information at leisure.
