"A truly wonderful experience, from start to finish. Not only with Buhlebendalo and the Fam Band , who were, as expected, amazing (apart from the great singing by all 3 vocalists, there was, from three fantastic young musicians, really fluid leading keyboards, lovely lyrical bass and sharp and sensitive drums), but the entire evening with the great local 'warm-up' acts, the dynamic MCing, and of course the great crowd of mostly young people passionate about their culture and their music. Xolile has created an absolutely unique space for true creativity and sharing; certainly one of the best, if not the best space for the joyful mixing of people, art, music and love. "

"Mandilakhe's music speaks to the soul. His patriotic message delivered with the calm voice and soul. "

"We arrived primarily for a book launch and didn't know anything about the musician we were going to see. It was our first time at the Black Power Station and the whole event, from start to finish, was phenomenal! The Black Power Station space (and the people in it) was so welcoming. The food was delicious. The conversations were stimulating and Mandilakhe Ikhaya (as the title suggests) spoke to my heart. His music, his poetry and his message needs to be shared more widely. I felt so lucky to be there! One day when Mandilakhe gets the fame he deserves I will think back to the time when I got to experience his music live, in a repurposed power station, in a small town called Makhanda. Unbelievable! "The event was amazing but the venue needed more chairs and better technical delivery"
