JOZI aMUSE Festival of Museums 2026 | FOR THE FIRST TIME IN THE CITY OF JOHANNESBURG
The City of Joburg presents one of the city’s flagship cultural moments — Jozi aMuse: Festival of Museums 2026.
Taking place from 21–23 May 2026, this is a curated, citywide experience bringing together Johannesburg’s leading museums, galleries and cultural spaces into one connected cultural moment through a scenic City Sightseeing Bus journey.
Over three full days, you move through the city on the City Sightseeing Bus, experiencing exhibitions, artist walkabouts, creative workshops, storytelling and after-hours music with live DJ sets.
This cultural celebration includes collaborations and partnerships with Jozi My Jozi, MTN Foundation, Wits Art Museum, Johannesburg Art Gallery, RMB Latitudes Art Fair, Museum Africa, Constitutional Court Art Collection, Hector Pietersen Museum, Kumalo Turpin, Constitution Hill, Wits Origins Centre, Standard Bank Art Gallery, Roger Ballen Centre for Photography, Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre, Ditsong Military History Museum, Wits Anglo American Digital Dome, the Hip Hop Museum, Studio Mukheli and more.
Each day is carefully structured to give you a different view of the city:
Day 1 explores history, memory and justice
Day 2 focuses on culture, heritage and living memory
Day 3 turns to art and contemporary practice, closing with an art-themed after-party
This is a self-drive option where you will tag along with the CitySightseeing Bus to experience the full-day programme with curated experiences planned for you,
At the end of each day, the programme continues at some of Joburg’s leading cultural venues, including Saint Germain, Untitled Basement and Sumthing Sumthing, where music and conversation bring the experience together.
