The Songmakers’ Guild was established in 1994 by pianist Albie van Schalkwyk and soprano Hanna van Schalkwyk, along with radio presenter Johan Stemmet and soprano Margaretha Stemmet. It has since become one of the most fundamental and respected musical institutions in South Africa, having showcased countless prominent art song performers locally and abroad in a wide variety of programmes.
