About

Journey to Jazz is an annual Karoo festival drawing inspiration from the history, art and natural environment of the Prince Albert desert. This intimate and bespoke experience offers a week of music, masterclasses, food and nature all at the foothills of the Swartberg Mountains, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. A full programme of local and international artists perform throughout the town in restaurants, on farms and in churches. The locals of Prince Albert curate a community events programme which sees visitors camping under the stars, doing yoga at sunrise and walking the Wolvekraal Conservancy.

Journey to Jazz is a showcase event of the Prince Albert Community Trust (PACT). It is a culmination of the Leadership Development work that takes place throughout the year with youth who are affiliated with the PACT community centre in Prince Albert. Journey to Jazz is conceptualized and driven by PACT and a crew of more than 80 young people of the region. Through ongoing training in hospitality, event management, media and life skills, local youth welcome visitors from around the country and globe to experience a true Karoo fees!
