About

THE AUTISTIC & AWESOME FOUNDATION recognizes that Autism, or autism spectrum disorder (ASD), refers to a broad range of conditions characterized by challenges with social skills, repetitive behaviors, speech and nonverbal communication. According to the Center for Disease Control, 2% of our population is autistic.

We know that there is not one autism but many sub types, most influenced by a combination of genetic and environmental factors. Because autism is a spectrum disorder, each person with autism has a distinct set of strengths and challenges. The ways in which people with autism learn, think and problem-solve can range from highly skilled to severely challenged. Some people with ASD may require significant support in their daily lives, while others may need less support and, in some cases, live entirely independently.

Early intervention can change a life.

Research has made clear that high quality early intervention can improve learning, communication and social skills, as well as underlying brain development.

It is our mission to be both respectful and supportive of people on the autism spectrum and we seeks to:

  • See the potential in people living with autism and provide platforms to explore their potential
  • Listen and understand behaviour as a form of communication and provide support to parents
  • Listen and respect the person as an individual first and raise parental awareness
  • See the opportunity to work together to make a difference

The foundation has partnered with Epic Life Education Center to provide free coaching and mind mapping tools to individuals who have potential in business and together we aim to empower them with critical entrepreneur skills, funding and support. We are looking to inspire others in leading the change in our communities.

This fundraising Gala is aimed at raising funds for the creation of a documentary from the Autistic person's point of view and to create community awareness especially in Africa where people are not even aware that the condition exists and children are bullied and tortured due to lack of education. We need your help in funding this project. More information can be found on our website.

"My connection was terrible but the bits I did get was really so valuable especially since I have a 3 year old with autism. I'm hoping to get the recording and updates on any more talks with Marcus and the other ladies "
