The Craft + Design Institute

The CDI is a non-profit company with over 24 years of success in developing creative people, small businesses and the craft and design sector at large in South Africa. The CDI is a catalytic agent of change, and passionate about developing appropriately skilled, resourced and digitally proficient practitioners who can successfully leverage opportunities for growth and development. The CDI supports over 7100 member businesses across South Africa, with over R490 million in direct funding offered to date to support creative sector development.

MAKE IT! 2025 will offer a dynamic and engaging format, designed to maximise interaction and knowledge sharing. Complementing these sessions will be vibrant live demonstrations showcasing the craftsmanship and innovative techniques of South African artisans and makers, offering attendees a firsthand experience of the creative process and the tangible results of their handiwork. The event will commence with inspiring plenary sessions featuring keynote speakers and industry leaders, setting the stage for focused exploration in subsequent break-shops and MAKE!shops. These smaller, interactive sessions will delve into specific themes and opportunities, providing practical insights and fostering collaborative problem-solving.
