About

Johannesburg Wildlife Veterinary Hospital

We are a dedicated wildlife ONLY veterinary hospital and rehabilitation centre in Johannesburg, South Africa. Our aim is to improve the quality of treatment, survival and success rate of rehabilitation of small to medium sized indigenous South African wildlife. We treat small to medium indigenous wildlife that have been injured, compromised or orphaned. We are BOTH a hospital as well as a rehabilitation centre, and we focus on small to medium wildlife where most wildlife vets focus on large wildlife, such as rhino, elephants and lions, leaving the smaller animals overlooked. We treat, care for and release these animals into safe locations back into the wild.

Our aim is to always release our patients into the wild, and where possible, support the collection of data. Sometimes this involves a pre-release enclosure to acquaint the animal to their new release site. This is often needed when raising wildlife from young. Other times, we are able to release fairly soon after treatment in our hospital - it all depends on the health and well being of the animal.

We are a non profit, and rely solely on the generosity of the public in order to keep our doors open, and help indigenous wildlife to be around for future generations.

Any donation amount will assist us, and we are so grateful for the support!
