uManyano lwe Jazz

About

On the 2nd & 3rd of April 2021, a social and cultural experiment was born at this very time when the arts and culture sector needed creativity and innovation to respond to the needs of the sector in pragmatic and sustainability ways without, at the same time, losing sight of the real challenges posed by the present day context. This was how the Gin & Jazz Manyano was born: an intimate 2-day festival-like experience in the inner city of Johannesburg that brought music, food and people together.

Much like our first installation, uManyano Lwe Jazz, aims to achieve the following: (1) support the creative economy through collaboration and creative strategy; (2) contribute to the revival of a sector which has been hard hit by COVID-19; (3) develop an innovative, responsive and sustainable model for arts and cultural life, sustainable employment re-generation and replication within both a local and regional context and finally, (5) celebrate a genre of music in this country that is rich, diverse and collaborative in its expression and undoubtedly one of our best exports to the world. We have a vision to do this in a way which is consistent and organic to its origin and purpose.
