About Parrot Pride

A little bird told me you deserve a weekend away!

On the 20th - 22nd of March, the misty and mythical mountain village of Hogsback is hosting the Eastern Cape's first Pride event.

The Hogsback community comes together to welcome you to celebrate difference in haven for diversity of nature, culture and activity.

We’re invading the village with extravagant entertainers and feathery fun. Join us on the Powder Puff Experience - a sashay down the town’s main street. Stop off at eight different venues, for a cabaret or canapé along the way. The flamboyant pub-crawl culminates in a cluster-fluff of food, live comedy, performers and dancing.

The beautiful Amathole mountains can tickle any fancy, whether it’s fine dining at a premier country estate, or a broke back picnic in the rolling hills. There’s bare-back horse riding for any of you raunchy ranchers, and a Mad hatter’s champagne breakfast in the gorgeous arboretum. Guilty karaoke pleasures, a tea dance, couples’ massages, magic, mountain biking and meditation all await you in Hogsback, a town set amidst waterfalls and indigenous forest.

The Hogsback police (who look very good in their uniforms) will be performing arrests on the underdressed and providing mounted escorts to prize winners, so primp your plumage, parrots and peacocks, or you may end up the local Priscilla’s bird-cage.

Rare, raucous, and decked out in feathery fabulousness- the Cape Parrot might just be your spirit animal. Join us in saving Hogsback’s endangered wonderbird by planting yellowwoods- their favourites for nesting and nibbling.
