Art House Fridays is a monthly event hosted by The Art House Gallery in the cozy heart of Melville, which integrates musical performances with interactive elements of creative exchange. We believe creativity is essential to life and what better way to fuel it than to participate in a beautiful musical performance through your own creative expression. Sketching, poetry, lyric-writing, photography or doodles are all encouraged as you engage with the music and allow it to work through you and outwards onto the canvas of your creation. If creative exchange isn’t your thing, we also welcome audience members to just sit back with a glass of wine and enjoy the show. This month features the extraordinarily gifted vocal duo- Thesis ZA.
Thesis ZA
Made up of songwriters, Ayanda Charlie and Ondela Simakuhle, Thesis ZA is a South African duo established in 2013. In the last 6 years, they have been featured on the SABC's Radio 2000 'Rising Stars' program with David Mashabela; Afternoon Express; Hectic Nine 9; and the etv Morning Show. They are no strangers to live performances and have performed to thousands of people in their respective careers, the biggest of which being a European tour to Germany and Switzerland in 2016. Thesis ZA are currently recording and producing their very first album to be released in early 2020, just in time for their second Switzerland stint at the Show Me showcase at the Moods Jazz Lounge in Zurich. Their great love for the Xhosa language offers a purely African sound, with their past musical studies producing a strong Jazz and Classical sound.
