Rootspring proudly presents an evening with two incredible musicians, well established in their own musical paths and valued contributors to the South African music scene.
Dave Reynolds
is SA's premier steelpan player, a ten-string acoustic guitarist and award winning
composer. He has performed and recorded all over the world with artists such as Steve Newman, Hugh
Masekela, Andy Narell & Tony Cox to name a few. "The Light of Day", his SAMA nominated solo album,
has received airplay on radio stations such as safm, classic fm, kaya fm, heart 104 and Radio Multikulti
in Germany
Pops Mohamed
is SA's premier indigenous music specialist. He has released 37 albums and been
awarded three Lifetime Achievement Awards, and worked with Cat Stevens, Baaba Maal and Andreas
Vollenweider among others.
Dave & Pops
have done over 200 concerts together, including the Standard Bank Jazz Festival which
was recorded and then released as "Live in Grahamstown" . Nominated for a SAMA, it also features the
amazing talent of Tony Cedras, who performed in Paul Simon's band for 25 years, Mozambiquan
drummer, Frank Paco and Congolese singer-songwriter and bassist, Sylvain Baloubeta. They are
currently writing the music for a film
