A Three legged African potpie pot (Ngxawu) full of delicious sounds….Concocted by : Hilton, Lungiswa & Vuyo. A once off magical collaboration of three wonderful South African Musicians. This will get to the heart and Roots of South African music, and opportunities to see 3 individuals of this stature cooking together don’t come often!

Vuyo Katsha:

is a notable Akadinda Amadinda log xylophone player who embodies the ancient South African themes of the Mbira. In addition to studying African music and dance at the University of Cape Town, he has expanded his knowledge of traditional instruments from numerous field trips around the world. He has shared the stage with the legendary Salif Keita, Youssou Ismaal and Cheikh Lo, as well as several other international artist.

Vuyo's sense of humour and bountiful heart are strongly felt every time he plays and sings.

Lungiswa Plaatjies:

A Cape-born-native raised in Langa Township, Cape Town, South Africa. She is tall, elegant and her main preoccupation is her mission to catapult the music and culture of her people into the limelight. Armed with an mbira, powerful and unique vocal cords, Lungiswa is an immensely fresh South African talent.

Lulu is unfazed by the international spotlight since she was one of the lead singers of Amampondo, South Africa’s neo-traditional sensation. “I have travelled around the world and visited many countries abroad. And what I’ve learnt is that a true artist must serve the people; this is what I want to do. It’s really the only way I can thank God for blessing me with the gift of this voice and an intellect to clutch various musical instruments” she explains. Along with Mbira, Lungiswa plays a variety of African percussion instruments and has performed extensively internationally.

Hilton Schilder:

Composer and Jazz Pianist/multi-instrumentalist, Hilton was born into a musical family in Lotus River, Cape Town. He is the son of esteemed South African jazz pianist Tony Schilder (1937-2010) and nephew of Chris Schilder of Cape Town’s groundbreaking jazz-fusion group of the 1970s, Pacific Express. Hilton partnered with Mac McKenzie in the mid-80s to form the legendary Genuines, a rock outfit that channeled the folk music of the Cape through punk. Post-Genuines, Hilton immersed himself more deeply into jazz and was a member and contributing composer of Robbie Jansen’s Sons of Table Mountain. In the early 2000s, he performed with the Goema Captains of Cape Town and released his first solo album entitled No Turning Back on Mountain Records in 2003. He was the project leader of the South African/Swiss jazz ensemble Iconoclast in 2008 as well as numerous other international performances and collaborations.
