ABOUT
Enter a serene and informal learning environment with an accent on enjoyment while grounding in techniques to build confidence in the water colour medium.
To produce technically accurate and beautiful botanical and floral art, we start with the basic observation of plants and line drawings to understand the subject, flow, and structure of the plant or flower and plan your composition. We then develop a good background utilising graphite to render three-dimensional tonal values and highlights. Finally, we move into water colour, learning about differences in water colour paper, colour mixing, washing, glazing, and dry brush techniques. Throughout we cover principles of composition, perspective, vanishing points, curves, and shadows, and wrap up with finishing and checking the final art piece.
