ABOUT
WHAT IS SANTARCHY?Santarchy aka Santacons take place every year in major cities all over the world. Some are small and some involve tens of thousands of Santas. There is no good reason to dress up in cheap Santa suits, run around town, give gifts, sing songs, have strangers sit on our laps, and decide who is naughty or nice -- but it's a whole lot of fun -- so we do it anyway.
HOW MUCH DOES IT COST?
There are two different prices - one is a normal drinking ticket and one is a designated driver ticket:
- R50 -- (R40 gives you free tasters at each brewery and R10 goes toward buying gifts that you will give away while walking between bars)
- R20 -- For those not drinking you can still join the fun but you won’t be served alcohol.
WHAT ARE THE ROUTE DETAILS?
- Riot Factory (145 Sir Lowry Road in The Palms Center) Free parking on Saturday, but we encourage you to take public transport, uber or cab.
- Garagista (139 Albert Road, Woodstock)
- Woodstock Brewery (252 Albert Road)
WHAT DO I WEAR?
It’s going to be warm, so of course we don’t expect a Santa suit. But a hat is not enough. If you don't have any money, be creative. If you don't have any creativity, slap yourself three times and ask your friend to help you. Paint your body red, wear a red speedo, paste on a beard, be a reindeer, an elf, or Mrs. Claus!
WHAT IF I DON’T LIKE BEER?
We encourage you to open your minds and try these new craft breweries. You may be surprised at how much you love Woodstock Brewery’s Witbier or Riot Factory’s Session or Garagista’s Tears of the Hipster beer. Your tasters will be beer, but the destinations also offer wine, spirits and cider that you can buy.
ARE WE WALKING?
Yes! And we’ll be handing out gifts along the way. You can also bike, skate, or rollerblade.
