Andrew Walker: Investor, Entrepreneur, Coach, Founder and Chief Wealth Officer at SA Property Investors Network

It is impossible not to feel inspired when meeting Andrew. His passion for people, property and passing on his knowledge is evident. Besides being a successful investor, he is a property investment coach and has founded various property-related businesses in the UK and South Africa. Andrew is the founder and CEO of SA Property Investors Network, connecting, educating and motivating a growing number of over 50 000 stakeholders in the property industry.

Since the first property he bought at the age of 21, Andrew has personally invested in more than 50 properties across South Africa and the UK. Andrew believes in how education and mentorship can empower anyone to make something from nothing. Instrumental to his own growth was the 8 years he spent in the UK, where he trained under the mentorship of UK property investment gurus Matthew Sneddon and Harry Barclay. Here he learned how to apply various finance strategies, which allows him to buy properties without using his own capital. Insights he happily shares with his students.

Taurai has been a banker for most of his working career. About 10 years ago he realized that building and owning a ladder (being an entrepreneur) is far much better than climbing the ladder in the corporate world. Taurai started his side hustles almost 10 years ago, from owning a company that distributed diapers in the high density areas to owning a car rental business that at its peak had 45 cars on the road. With the profits from these two businesses he ventured into Chicken rearing and at its high the chicken business produced 3 000 chickens on a monthly basis. However this is the business that almost bankrupted him as the chickens were attacked with health issues. Taurai lost just over R5 million.

In 2016 he ventured into property investing as this has always been on his heart during the course of all these ventures. Today he co-owns M5PropertyAddicts with Retha van Rooyen, a company in 4 cities Johannesburg, Tshwane, Durban and Cape Town. The asset value under management is over R25 million and in the last 2 years they have paid out over R2 million of investor funds. They have done over 40 deals and manager over 50 tenants. To date Taurai has only invested R1 000 of his own money in this business he co-owns.

Taurai is married to his beautiful wife Gena and they have 2 kids Tawana and Hope who both enjoy traveling and visiting the bush.
