ABOUT
Our Duck Race is just that, a race between a large number of rubber ducks. The fundraiser involves participants buying a numbered rubber duck to represent them in the race. The rubber ducks are then let out at the top of the river and the first to reach the finish line is the winner.
We would like to engage the community (and potentially even the media). It is a fun, engaging, creative and a really great day out.
Get your ducks in a row for the Danville Duck Race fundraiser on Saturday, 01 December 2018 at Kingfisher Canoe Club. Feathered festivities start at 10a.m. – enjoy the vibe, cool off at the bar, braai some wors, check out the family activities, prizes and more!
The highly-trained rubber ducks will “launch” from a marked start line to the RIGHT of the Club and race to the finish in front of the Canoe Club!
How much do ducks cost?
Your donation to the Duck Race allows you to adopt a duck. The cost is R100 for one duck. You can adopt as many ducks as you like!
Where can I adopt a duck?

Can I adopt a duck on DUCK RACE day?
Yes, you can adopt a duck on race day. The organisers will have a table at the Canoe Club selling ducks.
How do I know which one is my duck?
For each duck you sponsor you’ll receive a unique number that corresponds to the number attached to a highly-trained, race ready rubber duck.
Do I get a duck or get to keep one?
No. Your sponsorship will allow you to cheer on your duck to the finish line, but The Danville Trust knows that birds of a feather flock together – and we don’t want the lil’ ones to get lonely – so we’ll be keeping them in our official rubber duck sanctuary.
Do I need to be at Kingfisher Canoe Club to win?
No, but you’ll be missing out on all the feathered festivities AND it’s free to attend! Bring the family and come down and enjoy the day with us.
How will I know if my duck wins?
The person whose number matches the first duck to reach the finish line will win R1000; second will win an entry into next year’s Duck Race; and the third will win a photograph with the winning duck.
