The Capital Chamber Orchestra is a string orchestra that was established in 2017 by conductor Schalk van der Merwe. The premier concert of this string ensemble was received with praise from critics in papers such as the Beeld. Works to be performed: String Serenade by Josef Suk, Elgar’s Sospiri for Harp and String Orchestra and Grieg’s Holberg Suite arranged for string orchestra by the composer himself.The programme balances accessibility and more complicated musical idioms to leave both the connoisseur and new comer to classical music satisfied.
