The Symphony Choir of Cape Town sings Handel’s Messiah

Sat Dec 22, 19:00 - Sat Dec 22, 21:30

Christ Church, Constantia

ABOUT

The exquisite voices of the Symphony Choir of Cape Town - many just returned from performing the Messiah in Carnegie Hall, New York - will perform Handel's uplifting English-language oratorio in the intimate venue of Christ Church, Constantia.

It is said that when he wrote the "Hallelujah" chorus, Handel "saw all heaven before him". Handel's music explores the human response to the divine and nowhere is this more apparent than in the "Hallelujah" and "Amen" choruses of his Messiah, first performed in 1741.

The Symphony Choir of Cape Town was founded in 1972 and since then has performed on average four major choral works a year, currently under the baton of well-known conductor, Alexander Fokkens.

Tickets are R200 and are available from Quicket (http://qkt.io/Messiah) and at the door !
