IOT SESSIONS #06: SECURITY | HACKING IoT

Tue Aug 29, 19:00 - Tue Aug 29, 22:00

Workshop 17

ABOUT

Join Modern Alchemists this August for our security themed workshop led by Carlo Lakay. We will cover the basics of cyber security, ethical hacking and even do some jargon busting. Learn why iOT security is on the political radar with recent IoT cyber laws.

For those of you who joined the last security talk, we will be demonstrating some techniques from the theory covered. Don’t worry if you are a beginner, we will also provide a nice overview of the concepts. Highlights will include: wifi hacking, traffic sniffing, sql injection and password brute forcing.

After the tech talk, Carlo will be teaching us how to use a  NodeMCU to build a deauthenticator. For those of you who don’t know what that means, it’s basically a device to prevent connection to a wifi network, but we’ll save the rest for the workshop.

As always, this workshop is for everyone, including women, children and anyone interested in hands-on learning about cyber security and the internet of things. No coding experience is required. Join us for the tech talk and workshop or come for just the talk! Pizza + drink included in the ticket price.
