In the spotlight - Monica Singer (CEO, Strate) speaks about Block Chain.
The Women in IT monthly meeting is organised jointly by the JCSE at Wits University, the IITPSA and Wired Women. At some of the meetings we will put inspiring thought leaders "In The Spotlight". At the March meeting Monica Singer, CEO of Strate, will speak about Block Chain. This emerging technical innovation is destined to disrupt many sectors. Monica will discuss how Block Chain will affect the financial service industry.
The Block Chain is a hot topic for discussion - it has the potential to revolutionize domestic and international transactions. The Block Chain was invented in the context of the digital currency, Bitcoin and can be extended to include other digital assets .The Block Chain is an open, honest, accountable and auditable public ledger of all the transactions and it allows parties to transact securely in the absence of a third party intermediary . The Block Chain is distributed and secure eliminating fraud and error. It will speed up processes and lower transaction costs.
The Block Chain is set to bring about the second generation of the internet from an internet of information to an internet of value through mass collaboration, cryptography and clever code.
