Reaching All Learners – Diverse Needs, Special Interests and the Personalised Classroom

Summit features Craig Smith as presenter and facilitator. Craig is Deputy Principal of the Aspect Hunter School for Children with Autism in Australia. Craig has presented at national and international education and research conferences, recently presenting workshops for the United Nations in Shanghai as part of a global accessibility project.  Craig sits on the University of Newcastle Special Education Advisory Board, was awarded the 2011 Elizabeth Hoyles Research Fellowship, was made an Apple Distinguished Educator in 2013,

Craig believes the foundational goal for all educators and families is to have the right tools and teaching strategies to be able to reach all learners. Based on Craig's experience as deputy principal of a school for children with autism and his innovative and award winning work with educators and families around the world, he will discuss four key strategies to engage diverse learners in the classroom - 1) Getting to know the children we are working with, 2) Considering the nature of accessibility and universal design in the classroom, 3) Engaging the qualities of The Edutaining Behaviour Detective, and 4) Utilising the special interests of our children to enhance classroom accessibility and success in and beyond school.

Please note that there will be no cancellations accepted /refunds once booking made as places have been reserved.
