ABOUT

Ever dream of quitting your job and making a living from writing and photography through blogging and social media? Heather Mason has done just that, through her successful 2summers blog which has introduced her tens of thousands of followers to the quirky, beautiful and dynamic aspects of life in Johannesburg.

This six-hour, one-day course will set you on your way. If you're a beginner, you'll leave the workshop with a blog launched or with a new presence on social media. If you're already writing and taking photos, Heather will show you her tips for improving your photography, engaging with your audience, and writing stories that readers will love.

The workshop will meet at 9am at Bridge Books, at 85 Commissioner Street. Heather will lead the group through the surrounding streets to take photos of beautiful old Johannesburg buildings, a few ghost buildings, the vibrant street life around the Joubert market. After a lunch break, the workshop will gather again at Bridge Books to put their work out there for the world to enjoy.

The workshop is limited to 10 people, the first 10 who sign up.

About Heather

Heather is a writer, photographer and blogger based in Johannesburg, South Africa. She moved from Washington D.C. to Joburg in August 2010, abandoning her old life as an American suburbanite office-dweller for a new life as a migrant bohemian freelancer. Heather started a blog on a whim, naming it 2Summers because she experienced two summers in a row during the year that she switched hemispheres.

Six years later, Heather has made Joburg her permanent home and blogging has become her career. She blogs mostly about quirky places in Joburg and revels in using a combination of words and pictures to showcase a vibrant, friendly side of this city that is often overlooked. Heather also blogs about her travels around South Africa and the rest of the world.

In her spare time Heather enjoys boxing, Instagramming, and eating copious quantities of samoosas. Follow her on Instagram (@2summers), Twitter (@2summers) and Facebook (facebook.com/2summers2010).
