C19 Community Response

About

Help Seriti minimize the impact of COVID-19 as we provide food relief and food security to poor and marginalized communities in our society. The initiative is focused in areas with a high density of people within rural and peri-urban areas. Through your donations of any amount we hope to reach our target to feed 20 000 households in the North West, Limpopo and Mpumalanga provinces in South Africa and beyond.

With your contribution of R100.00 we can provide a food hamper, with R200.00

we are able to provide a voucher to purchase essential food and essential non-food items, and for R185.00 we can provide a starter pack to start a homestead garden.

Our mission is to facilitate the delivery of food and essential goods to communities in need and to strengthen food security of vulnerable households to pave the way for a more sustainable food systems post the immediate crisis.

Our approach includes 3 crucial elements as we aim to provide “relief to resilience”:

(1) Community Organising - to facilitate the delivery of food and essential goods to communities and where the community takes action to bring about change

(2) Food Distribution to desperate and vulnerable households through the delivery of food parcels

(3) “Work. Learn. Grow” (WLG) - a community-based farming and social enterprise initiative that seeks to increase local food production, create opportunities for agriculture and to strengthen Small-Scale Farmers.
