ABOUT

Join the Maker Library Network at British Council Connect ZA's InnovationZA 2015 - four weeks of creative collaboration through the arts and technology, connecting, making and creating.
It's all happening at I/ZA @Ithuba, in the bustling Braamfontein, alongside the Fak’ugesi African Digital Innovation Festival in Johannesburg, 20 Aug - 12 Sep 2015.

Guest Librarians: Mia van Zyl & UJ Lecturer Jacky Lucking – Bridging Worlds
‘Bridging Worlds’ aims to foster real collaboration and skill sharing, by taking two makers from different backgrounds and allows them to teach their skill, and learn the other.

The result is that the product/object/artwork created at the end of the day is not just a collaboration where each person works on aspects related to their skill set; but rather a chance to equip participants with the knowledge and guidance to work on something with new perspective and skill.

Paper + Fashion: Facilitated by Guest Makers, Mia van Zyl, a puppet maker and paper sculptor, and Jacky Lucking, a University of Johannesburg lecturer.

All skills and disciplines of making welcome!

I/ZA @Ithuba, Ithuba Arts Gallery - 100 Juta Street, ENTRANCE on Biccard Street.

Maker Library Network (MLN) connects designers and makers around the world.  Combining reading, showing and making, this new type of creative space encourages local and international knowledge sharing. Each Maker Library contains three key elements of a library, a make-space and a gallery, and is connected to the network via an online platform for sharing skills and resources.

This project is supported by SA-UK Seasons 2014 & 2015, a partnership between the Department of Arts and Culture, South Africa and the British Council.
