When we only recognize the influence of those we look up to, we are leaving out an important consideration: The power that each and every one of us naturally possess. With our personal achievements comes responsibility, to ourselves, our immediate families, the communities we reside in and society as a whole. We all have dreams and visions of what South Africa should be like, but what are we doing as individuals to make those visions a reality? Where is our voice, passion and purpose within our communities? The future is what we make of it.
 
It’s not that we don’t have influence: all of us do, and plenty of it. The problem is that many of us fail to recognize our power to influence. As a result, we don’t harness it for the benefit of ourselves and others.
 
The more aware you become of the influence you have, the quicker you will realize that you influence everyone you come into contact with in some way. And, with the rise of social media, the number of people you come into contact with has grown exponentially, further increasing your chance to influence those who surround you.
