Ahmed has received numerous accolades in recognition of his contribution to several high profile innovations and projects. He was selected as one of the "Top 300 Young South Africans you have to take to lunch" by the Mail & Guardian in 2009, and as "Six Men under 35 who will shape the next decade" by Men’s Health Magazine in May 2010 – both for his contribution to developing the mobile industry in South Africa. He also won the World Brand Leadership Award from the World Brand Congress hosted in Mumbai in 2009 for his digital marketing work for various top brands in South Africa’s. In September 2010, he was featured in Entrepreneur Magazines for his industry leading business innovations. In 2011, Ahmed was selected as one of Cape Town IT Initiatives (CITI) "IT Heroes & Pioneers" for his contribution to the development of the IT sector in the Western Cape. He has been a regular public speaker on diverse topics such as universal service and access, internet policy and regulation, fixed and mobile broadband access and usage, digital and new media marketing, social media and internet and mobile technology.
