WHEN & WHERE:

  • It all happens on Saturday 28 November 2020 at 06h30 for 07h00 start. Yip, that's early. But this is when the forest is at its most beautiful. We don't want you to miss out on that!
  •  At 06h30 briefing session and hand out maps. Between 06h45 and 07h00 teams prepare their route. At 07h00 we start at 1 minute intervals.
  • The event is being held at the Back2Basics Adventure Camp in the Elgin Forest (Lebanon Forest Area).
  • Very easy to find. Take the N2 past Peregrine Farm Stall. From the entrance to Kromco Sheds mark off 2.5km further along the N2. Where the road dips is the entrance on the right marked by two canoes. Turn in there and follow the signs.

HOW IT WORKS:

  • Each team has to consist of four members.
  • Upon entry every team leader will receive a Participation Pack via email.
  • This pack will give contain all the information you will need including team numbers.
  • When you receive the participation Pack your team will be formally registered.
  • Each team is made up of four individuals. You can have a guy’s team, a girls’ team or mixed - it's up to you.
  • Each team gets a map of the forest area around the dam with ten beacons marked on it.
  • Also with the map will be clues that you are on the right or wrong track.
  • There will be a 15 minute strategy period prior to the start, and a 60-second staggered start
  • The objective is to find these beacons (Yellow Buckets) in the forest.
  • When the team discovers the beacon (Yellow Bucket) they will find a sealed plastic sachet inside containing a single word. They are not to open the envelope.
  • The plastic sachet relevant to each team will have the team number and colour on it.
  • Once they have visited all ten beacons they will have ten sealed envelopes relative to their team only.
  • The team then returns to base camp where they must present the sealed plastic sachets first.
  • Then the sachets may be opened and the team lays the words out into a 10-word sentence that makes up an idiom.
  • The first team to return to base camp and correctly lay out their unique idiom and ring the bell is the winner!
