RE: Invitation: Inception meeting on Research on Community Paralegals in Africa: 20-21 February 2020
The African Centre of Excellence for Access to Justice (ACE-AJ) in conjunction with the Dullah Omar Institute (DOI), University of the Western Cape, South Africa invites you to a two-day preparation meeting for the research on Community Paralegalism in Africa. The meeting is scheduled to take place from 20-21 February 2020 in Kigali, Rwanda. The research on Community Paralegalism in Africa is a joint effort of the ACE-AJ and the DOI, which seeks to understand the nature, types and dynamics of community justice based system (CBPs) as a whole. More importantly, the research seeks to understand the regulation of CBPs in six selected African countries including Ghana, Nigeria, Uganda, Tanzania, Mozambique and Zambia. This meeting provides an opportunity to discuss the aims, purpose and methodologies for the proposed research. Moreover, participants from the selected countries and other stakeholders will brainstorm with the founding members of the ACE-AJ to highlight the challenges and best practices regarding CBPs.
