Join us for an intimate Valentine's evening featuring the magnificent and mesmerising monsieur Derek Gripper. Amidst Derek's astounding music and wondrous musings we shall wine and dine you and your beloved in one of Cape Town's most beautiful settings.
Derek needs no introduction, however for those of you whom have not had the pleasure of seeing him perform Mr Gripper has an impressive biography. From performing solo shows at Carnegie Hall and London’s Shakespeare’s Globe to other prestigious stages across Europe, Australia, India and USA, Derek Gripper is one of South Africa’s finest musicians. With a background in Western classical music and a passion for West African Kora, Derek has transcribed note-for-note the complex compositions of Malian kora players such as Toumani Diabaté and found extraordinary ways of playing them on a six-string guitar. His beautiful and complex compositions are simply sublime.
