PINK POWER GOLF DAY EVENT DETAILS:
Breast cancer survival rates are rising as screening and treatment improve. However, breast cancer is still the most invasive cancer in women. It knows no colour, no age or what your financial stability is - it does not discriminate.
The average cost to treat breast cancer can easily cost hundreds of thousands of rand, depending on the prognosis and with most medical aids these cost are not covered 100%. Sadly approximately only 17% of South Africans are on medical aid, rendering the cost of breast cancer treatment unaffordable to the majority of South Africans.
Plaxedes Makura, the founder of Pink Power, a breast cancer survivor herself is making a difference in the lives of those woman that cannot afford treatment.
Pink Power will be hosting its very first Golf Day to raise both awareness and funds, which will go towards Nomvula Riba, as she fights cancer for the second time in her life, at the age of 42.
About the Golf Course:
Gary Player Signature Course
At over 7 500 meters, the Blair Atholl Golf Course is the third longest course in the world and it takes in all the different features and moods of the Estate. The former home of golfing legend, Mr Gary Player. The course is a Gary Player design and forms the heart of the estate with its rolling greens and meadows adding to the sense of space.
The course features no less than 11 water featured holes. Designed in a loop, the course is both challenging and rewarding, perfect for scratch players to test their mettle, yet still an enjoyable round for handicapped golfers.
