ABOUT

OVERVIEW

Inspire Africa will offer drone flying, coding and building workshops three times per day over the two days (19th and 20th October). If you just want to pop around and give it all a try in between workshops you are most welcome. Please see the details of each activity for the workshops further below.

We will offer attendees the opportunity to take to the skies with our fun and educational drone technology workshop, guaranteed to excite and entertain. Our workshop will allow attendees to learn the basics of drone flight, coding and drone technology through a set of stations.

OVERVIEW AND PROGRAMME ITINERARY

Inspire Africa will provide attendees with an educational and entertaining drone technology activation/ workshop. The group of 24 attendees per workshop session will be divided into three smaller groups of 8 people and each group will participate in a 1-hour workshop.

The schedule will be as follows:

Group 1: 10am – 11.00am

Group 2: 11.30am – 12.30pm

Group 3: 1.00pm – 2.00pm

Each group will be divided into 3 smaller groups of 8 people and they will rotate through three Drone Zone stations. Schedule as follows:

Group A: Station 1: Drone Building and Technology (20 minutes)

Group B: Station 2: Drone Coding (20 min)

Group C: Station 3: Flight Training (20 min)

A description of each station is as follows:

STATION 1: Drone Technology and Build

In this section, attendees will learn about this powerful technology in a hands-on breakdown of a drone and then learn how this technology allows drones to be so capable. Once attendees have an understanding of what makes a drone fly, they will be given the opportunity to build a basic drone and have it test flown.

STATION 2: Drone Coding

The participants will learn how to code our Tello drones to fly autonomously. Here they will learn a couple of very basic coding principles and see their coding animate a drone to fly autonomously. The coding will be done on our DroneBlocks software that allows one to program the drone though an easy to use and understand interface with a Python back-end.

STATION 3: Flight Training

In this station, attendees will start off with learning the basics of flying a drone. They will first learn to take off, hover and land and then eventually move on to more complicated flight manoeuvres like figure 8’s and box circuits. Our smart drones are extremely stable and reliable and have long flight times. This gives participants the advantage of being able to learn the basics without the frustrations that come with inferior drone technology.
